At Corestone Capital, a merchant bank that he launched in 2014, Will McDonough applies his unprecedented network, diverse investment experience, entrepreneurial vision, and hands-on operational skills to develop compelling ideas into exciting businesses. Will has led or partnered in investments across sectors as diverse as consumer goods, sports, social media, technology, financial services and natural resources, and has guided several of his portfolio companies to successful IPOs.

Will’s financial industry experience has included the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs, which managed more than $17 billion in private capital for the firm’s current and retired partners; Avenue Capital Group, where he co-founded a $250 million distressed debt fund-of-funds; Atlas Mara (ATMA: LSE), where he co-founded a banking group serving sub-Saharan Africa, EMG Advisors, an asset manager he co-founded launching the first battery metals futures fund (CHRG:NYSE), and BTF: Nasdaq’s first Bitcoin ETF.

Will’s sports experience includes a decade in the front office of the New England Patriots, where he was a part of three SuperBowl Championship teams, and many years working quietly on large sports team transactions…

Will McDonough

Will McDonough is Chairman and CEO of Corestone Capital. As an investor and entrepreneur, Will’s career ranges from sports and entertainment to global finance and technology. Will has been an early adopter of blockchain technology, creating the first ever smart contract adjudication protocol for blockchain transactions in 2017. Prior to that, he led the IPO for Atlas Mara (ATMA:LSE), which he co-founded with former Barclays CEO, Bob Diamond, acquiring banks across Africa. Prior to founding Atlas, Will and his team in the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs managed more than $17 billion in private capital of the firm’s current and retired partners. Before that, he partnered with New York-based Avenue Capital Group to co-found a $250 million distressed debt fund of funds.

Since 2001, he has run his own highly successful management company called MMG, where he has represented The Estate of Nelson Mandela, New England Patriots Quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady, ESPN analyst and Patriot Hall of Famer Tedy Bruschi, and supermodel/activist Gisele Bundchen. MMG also co-founded a children’s entertainment company with the creator of Inspector Gadget, Andy Heyward, partnering with Warren Buffett, Martha Stewart, Stan Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger to build educational content for children (NASDAQ:GNUS).
